Shakira opens up about divorce from Barcelona’s Piqué for the first time

Singer Shakira spoke for the first time about her separation from Barcelona defender Gerard Piqué this Friday. The Colombian asked her family and children for privacy in the face of news that the player would have had relationships outside of marriage.

– We regret to confirm that we are separating. For the well-being of our children, who are our highest priority, we ask that their privacy be respected. We appreciate your understanding – she said in a note sent by the advisory.

Piqué and Shakira have been together for 12 years and have two children, Milan, 9 years old, and Sasha, 7. With stints at Manchester United and Zaragoza, the defender has more than 30 titles with the Barcelona shirt, in addition to the World Cup. 2010 and Euro 2012 with the Spanish national team.

On the podcast ‘Mamarazzis’, presenters Laura Fa and Lorana Vásquez stated that Shakira discovered the betrayal and knew the person with whom Piqué had a relationship. The Barcelona defender would already be enjoying the city’s nightclubs with teammate Riqui Puig.

Last month, Shakira released a song alongside Rauw Alejandro that could be to hit Piqué. The song features the lines: ‘They warned me but I didn’t listen / I realized yours is fake / Don’t tell me you’re sorry / That sounds sincere but I know you well and I know you lie’.
