Shazam! Fury of the Gods just released a new trailer, and fans are convinced it includes a cameo from Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot).
Aimed at Japanese audiences, the trailer features footage not seen in previous promos for the sequel Shazam! Among this new material is a shot that seems to show Wonder Woman who deflects a jet of fiery dragon’s breath with her bracelets. This matches earlier reports that Gadot would be reprising her most iconic role in Shazam! Fury of the Gods although the star’s face is not seen in the Japanese trailer and is not yet officially tied to production.
That said, Gadot’s involvement in Shazam! Fury of the Gods was apparently confirmed in April 2022, during the presentation of the DC Studios (then DC Films) at CinemaCon 2022. During the presentation, the studio screened footage of the sequel to Shazam! and those present said it included a scene between Wonder Woman and the Shazam of Zachary Levi. In the scene, the two meet over dinner in Paris and Wonder Woman abruptly ends the conversation after Shazam tells her that she “can’t commit,” presumably in response to her request to take on more responsibility.

The thrilling new trailer for Shazam 2
This scene has not yet been made available to the public, nor does any part of it appear in the latest trailer for Shazam! Fury of the Gods intended for English-speaking audiences, debuted in January 2023. Instead, the trailer focuses mainly on the sequel’s antagonists, the Daughters of Atlas, a lethal trio played by Helen Mirren, Lucy Liu and Rachel Zegler. Includes several glimpses of Shazam fighting the Daughters of Atlas, who plan to bring about the end of the world. The trailer also teases the hero’s confrontation with the dragon seen in the Japanese trailer.
These shots highlight the impressive visual effects of Shazam! Fury of the Gods is a film with impressive visual effects, which the director David F. Sandberg had promised to surpass those of its predecessor. Sandberg also tweeted about his collaboration with the film’s visual effects artists following the trailer’s release, featuring his rough pre-visualization of a fantastical tower alongside the finished effects shot. In a later tweet, he added that this particular shot was also influenced by the video game series The Legend of Zelda, especially from the location of Castle Ganon, depicted in the classic chapter for N64 Ocarina of Time.
Shazam! The fury of the gods will hit theaters on March 17, 2023.
