Nicole Kidman doesn’t care what other people think about her fashion sense.
The 56-year-old Australian actress caused a stir last year when she appeared on the cover of Vanity Fair’s annual Hollywood edition in a daring outfit that consisted of a very cropped Miu Miu miniskirt and matching crop top. Her outfit divided fans and drew criticism online.
Reflecting on her controversial looks, Nicole insisted she likes to take risks when it comes to fashion and doesn’t think about the consequences, telling Australian magazine Stellar: “I make random, crazy choices. I call them ‘teen picks’ because I never think about the consequences.
“Part of my brain doesn’t work that way. I just say, ‘Oh, I’m going to wear this, it reminds me of my school uniform.’ Or, ‘Oh my god, yes, I’d love to do that.’ I try to be in that state of mind because otherwise you get scared or anxious.”
A mother of four — Isabella, 30, and Connor, 28, with ex-husband Tom Cruise, and Sunday Rose, 15, and Faith Margaret, 13, with her husband, Keith Urban — Nicole admits she’s more than happy with her adventure. Tries her best to ignore the hate. style so that it doesn’t stop her from making bold choices.
She says: “Don’t tell me, I really don’t want to know. It will stop me from doing what I want to do. There are times when you hear things and you say, ‘Oh my God, that’ really I am sad. Because you can’t live in a bubble, but at the same time, I try to be really free in my choices, otherwise, before you know it, you’re locked in and you can’t go anywhere.
“And I would hate for that to happen to my daughters. I would hate for that to happen to anybody I love. I want to be like, ‘Okay, I’m trying something, or I’m wanted to do. It was fun.” This was my choice. And yes, I take responsibility for it. No one else chose it.
