On Keira Knightley’s 35th birthday, we’ve prepared a subjective compilation of the films she starred in and which we love. They will make you laugh to tears, make you empty the packaging of tissues and will not let you forget about yourself.
Many of us grew up with the work of Keira Knightley. We watched her hit the cinema and silver screens as a teenager in the early 2000s, and many of us grew up with her and the changing repertoire she served us. “There are times when men think that a pretty girl cannot be intelligent or talented. You have to correct them then,” Keira Knightley said almost two decades ago, and we completely agree with her. On the occasion of her birthday, we have prepared a review of films with her participation that are difficult to pass by indifferently – check it out for yourself, perhaps you have not seen one of them.
“Bend It Like Beckham” (2002)
We start from the early years of Keira Knightley’s career. Although she began her adventure with acting at the age of seven, the movie “Bend It Like Beckham” was one of the first to bring her international fame and recognition. The film tells the story of a girl from an Indian family who not only joins the female football team in secret from her family, but also falls in love with a coach who is very far from the Indian. Although Keira does not play the main role in this film, we highly recommend him – she is a strong character in it. It’s a great story about cross-cultural differences, friendship and love.
“Pride and Prejudice” (2005)
Many fans of Jane Austin’s work swear that their favorite production, telling the stories of Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy, is the one with Collin Firth emerging from the water. But we love the movie with Keira Knightley. The independent Elizabeth Bennet in her edition has a lot to say and for those times she is a really breakthrough character. If you liked “Little Women” by Greta Gerwig – this movie will be a bull’s eye.
We do not know anyone who, after watching this movie, would not be broken into thousands of pieces. It is a love story, which, although it did not have to be tragic, turned out to be just as a result of a misunderstanding. The whole thing takes place just before the outbreak of World War II. Very touching cinema. The cast includes young Saorsie Ronan, James McAvoy and of course Keira Knightley.
“Don’t Leave Me” (2010)
The film is an adaptation of the book of the same title, by Kazuo Ishiguro – the Nobel laureate in Literature. It tells a dystopian story that takes place in an alternate reality. Three people who have spent their lives in boarding school learn about their destiny years later, and this is less colorful than it might seem.
“Anna Karenina” (2012)
This is a film that fans of literature (especially Tolstoy) and costume films should not miss. Keira Knightley plays the role of the eponymous Anna Karenina – a character who is extremely intriguing. Russian glamor, handsome men and intrigue around – that’s something we like!
Keira Knightley plays the role of Colette – a 20-year-old girl who comes from a poor family. Over time, Colette meets her future husband, who is twice her age, and introduces her to the world of French bohemia. He also encourages her to start writing. The result of Colette’s work is a book entitled “Klaudyna”, which she published under her husband’s name. Discovering your sexuality, numerous scandals, love affairs and ambitious successful women? We are for yes!
