An important LEGO release day is just around the corner, when dozens of brand new sets will be available for purchase for the very first time. Here are six of the best to watch out for on August 1st.
Walking into the LEGO Store on the first day of the month can be a bit overwhelming – especially when this month is August, one of the three (along with January and June) that traditionally sees masses of new sets across multiple themes debut on the shelves. Knowing what to watch out for is tricky, especially if you don’t spend every moment keeping an eye on all the new releases.
It’s even more difficult if you do your shopping from the comfort of your couch, because you can’t physically absorb all the new sets, and have to resort to browsing the “new” section (or going theme by theme). And even then, what happens on August 1 and what is already launched / will be launched later is difficult to determine without clicking on each individual set.
To make things a little simpler, we have collected six of the best LEGO sets launched on August 1st, across a wide variety of themes, interests and prices. Alternatively, click here for a full list of everything coming next month – and don’t forget to download the Brick Search app on Android or iOS and add your favorites to your wish list, ready for next Tuesday.
6 – 42161 Lamborghini Huracan Tecnica
Theme: Technical LEGO Price: 46.99 £ / 49.99 $ / 52.99 € Parts: 806

If you don’t have the space or the budget for 42115 Lamborghini Sián FKP 37, how about a smaller but equally spicy lime green Lambo? Lamborghini Huracan Tecnica 42161 aims to fill this gap on the market on August 1, offering one of the most attractive LEGO Technic cars at this scale and at this price so far. Ideal if you also can’t stretch until next month’s new major Technical Release…
5 – 21060 Himeji Castle
Theme: LEGO Architecture Price: 139.99 £ / 159.99 $ / 159.99 € Parts: 2,125

This year it is the one and only LEGO Architecture set (so far, but probably not at all) recreates a Japanese fortress in 21060 Himeji Castle, and thus continues the approach of last year’s 21058 Great Pyramid of Giza. That is, it includes not only the structure itself, but also a taste of its surroundings – in this case, cherry blossoms, smaller buildings and the castle grounds.
4 – 31142 Space Roller Coaster
Theme: LEGO Creator 3-in-1 Price: 94.99 £ / 109.99 $ / 104.99 € Parts: 874

Given how long ago they were originally revealed (May!), You would be forgiven for forgetting three new LEGO Creator 3-in-1 sets are coming out on August 1st. Although it is not the biggest or the most expensive of the trio, the star of the series is easily 31142 Space Roller Coaster, which offers a fairground model a little more practical than last summer’s imposing 10303 Loop Coaster. The space theme is just the icing on the cake.
3 – 76224 Batmobile: Batman vs. the Joker hunt
Theme: LEGO DC Price: 42.99 £ / 47.99 $ / 47.99 € Parts: 438

If you also attended The Flash in June, you will probably agree that one of the highlights of the film was seeing Michael Keaton’s Batmobile on the big screen again – even if it didn’t do anything. You will soon be able to build a LEGO version of the 1989 car to the scale of the minifigure for the second time (after the promotional version released alongside 76139 1989 Batmobile), such as 76224 Batmobile: Batman vs. the Hunt for the Joker headlines three new LEGO Batman sets for the month of August.
Corvette 2-10321
Theme: LEGO Icons Price: 129.99 £ / 149.99 $ / 149.99 € Parts: 1,210

The latest large-scale vehicle has been hailed as ‘the sexiest car the LEGO Group has made,” and you can’t say fairer than that. Corvette 10321 captures an American automotive icon on 1,210 pieces, and although this includes elements for the roof, we bet that 99% of buyers will display this beauty with the hood down. This is one of two LEGO Icons is hitting the shelves in August, alongside 10315 Quiet Garden.
1 76261 – XNUMX XNUMX Spider-Man Final Battle
Theme: LEGO Marvel Price: 94.99 £ / 109.99 $ / 104.99 € Parts: 900

Party like it’s the end of 2021 with the Spider-Man: Set No Way Home that we should have had from the beginning, if not for Marvel doing its best to avoid spoiling the presence of three different web-slingers in its rampant trio. 76261 Spider-Man Final Battle brings together Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Men in a single set, built around the Statue of Liberty still under construction, and already seems to be the superhero set of the summer.
