Ski Jumping. Jan Kawulok – former Polish champion is dead

– With deep regret and sadness we received the news of the death of the late Jan Kawulok, Olympian, Nordic combined competitor and ski jumping competitor, distinguished activist, coach and sports referee. We express our deepest sympathy to the family of the deceased – we read on the official WSS Wisła account.

Kawulok was considered quite a talent already in his junior times. He was also able to prove his worth in the senior competition. In 1971 he became the Polish champion in ski jumping on the normal hill, and a year later he won gold in cross-country skiing in the 4×10 km relay race.

In 1968 he performed at the Winter Olympics in Grenoble. In nordic combined he was 20th.

After his career, Kawulok devoted himself to youth coaching. From under his “wings” came Jan Szturc, among others.
