Nicolas Cage, in the first chapter of the franchise, lent his voice to Spider-Noir, a 1930s – and black and white – version of the superhero.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verseawaited sequel to the blockbuster Spider-Man: Into a New Universewill be in theaters from June 1, 2023. In the large cast of original voice actors, however, the name of does not appear Nicolas Cagewho had lent the voice to Spider Noir, one of the many versions of Spider-Man that appeared in the film. During an interview given to ScreenrantCage has therefore returned to talk about the awaited sequel, stating that he don’t know why he wasn’t involved again:
You should ask Sony. I don’t know what’s going on with that movie. Nobody told me about it. Ask them. I do not know. I really don’t know. I’d like to hear from you. I also love Spider-Man Noir. I think he’s a great character. Spider-Man is the coolest superhero. And then you can join him with Cagney and Bogart and Edward G. Robinson, come on, he’s a great character.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will expand the concept of Multiverse deepened in the first chapter, also introducing new characters and new versions of the Arrampicamuri, as can also be seen from the official synopsis:
After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, the friendly Brooklyn neighborhood Spider-Man is catapulted into the Multiverse, where he meets a team of “Spider-Heroes” charged with protecting its existence. But when the heroes clash over how to deal with a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other “Spiders” and will have to redefine what it means to be a hero in order to save the people he loves most.
In addition to the return of Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) and Gwen Stacy – voiced by Hailee Steinfeld, who also recently appeared in the MCU, as Kate Bishop in the series Hawkeye – the involvement of Oscar Isaac (Miguel O’Hara / Spider-Man 2099), Jake Johnson (Peter B. Parker), Brian Tyree Henry (Jefferson Davis), Luna Laura Velez (Rio Morales), is expected Jason Schwartzman (The Blur, the villain of the film) and Daniel Kaluuya (Spider-Punk). Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will then show, in addition to new characters, some of the favorite locations in comics, including Earth-50101, Nueva York – the city of Spider-Man 2099 – and Earth-65 – the world where Gwen Stacy comes from. The film will arrive in cinemas divided into two parts – the sequel, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verseis expected in theaters from March 2024.
