The future of the film franchise is still uncertain Star Trek since the 4th film produced by JJ Abrams scheduled for December 22, 2023 was removed from the Paramount list a few weeks ago.
In a recent interview with Deadline, Zoe Saldana was invited to comment on the delays.
We were in contact with JJ and were trying to figure out if we could leave this fall, but I don’t think we could.
Maybe it was a matter of commitments and we weren’t able to balance the schedules of cast and crew, but I think the reasons were also related to the project. I know we are all of the same opinion, there would be no better thing than getting all back together.
The latest film in the saga, directed by Justin Lin, hit theaters in 2016 and grossed just $343.5 million. However, the franchise has found new life thanks to the television series and has five products in various stages of development: Star Trek: Discovery, Star Trek: Picard, Star Trek: Lower Decks, Star Trek: Prodigy and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.
