Electronic Arts is not interested in creating a new item from the Star Wars: Battlefront series. DICE wanted to develop a shooter in the world of Star Wars, has already presented some plans, but the publisher intends to focus on developing its own IP.
Star Wars: Battlefront II (2017) made its debut in 2017, receiving a lot of negative feedback from the introduction of paid crates, but DICE removed the problematic features and expanded the title wisely. It is said that the developers would be very eager to return to the well-known IP, meanwhile the EA owners have quite different intentions.
Recently, Tom Henderson shared another behind-the-scenes news about the activities of Electronic Arts – as the informant indicates, plans for Star Wars: Battlefront 3 were rejected by the publisher due to license costs:
“[Gra] was rejected because it takes 20% more sales to make the same money. “
Therefore, the Swedish studio would focus on the development of the Battlefield series – Henderson suggested that in 2023 a new part should debut on the market, and at the same time added that several leading developers working on Battlefront games had abandoned DICE. They were Battlefront 2 Creative Director Dennis Bränvall, Lead Game Designer Christian Johannesé, and Lead Hero Designer Guillaume Mroz.
It is worth recalling that in 2017 EA was the only team that worked on Star Wars titles, but in the meantime Lucasfilm changed its plans and now, among others, Ubisoft is creating a new title embedded in this universe.
