Tales of the Walking Dead arrives on Disney+ as a surprise

The new The Walking Dead spin-off streams every Monday with a new episode.

There have been no announcements, which is curious considering that we are talking about one of the most popular franchises on the small screen, and we ourselves noticed it by chance: it has been available on Disney+ the new Tales of the Walking Deadthe latest spin-off of the zombie drama The Walking Dead, which in those same hours concluded its story after 11 record seasons. With a new episode every Monday, the anthology series explores new corners of the apocalyptic world imagined by Robert Kirkman in his comic, introducing new characters and finding others already known to the public.

The plot and the cast of Tales of the Walking Dead

Created by the former showrunner of The Walking Dead Scott M. Gimple together with Channing Powell, Tales of the Walking Dead tells standalone stories — six for season one — that show these characters months and years after the apocalypse and how each of them deals in unexpected ways with the horrors of survival among the walkers. Interpersonal conflicts test their ability to overcome difficulties and challenge their will to move forward.

Let us follow for example the story of Joe (Terry Crews, Brooklyn Nine-Nine), a lonely man who has been living in a bunker since the beginning of the apocalypse and who decides to leave the safety of his home to embark on a long journey with a mission to meet an old acquaintance; by Blair (Parker Posey, Lost in Space) and Gina (Jillian Bell, Workaholics), two employees of an insurance company who, although conflicted, must work together at the onset of the emergency to save their loved ones and escape Atlanta; by Dr. Chauncey Everett (Anthony Edwards, E.R), a scientist with questionable views on the undead who helps a stranger (Poppy Liu, Better Call Saul) to find the group from which she left in an area of the Wiregrass region now called the Dead Sector; and Davon’s (Jessie T. Usher, The Boys), a man tormented by hallucinations after waking up with a head injury and temporary amnesia, as well as chained to the corpse of a woman, in a small Maine town.

fans of The Walking Dead they will recognize later Samantha Morton again as Alpha. The ruthless leader of the Whisperers, who later passed away, is told of the time when she called herself Dee and her main concern was to protect her daughter Lydia (Scarlett Blum) aboard the community steamboat of survivors they lived with after the apocalypse broke out. We can not name then Olivia Munn (The Newsroom), Daniella Pineda (Cowboy Bebop) And Danny Ramirez (Top Gun: Maverick), also in the first season cast.
