As part of the re-recording of part of its catalog, Taylor Swift has just announced a release date for 1989.
And four! After Fearless (2021), Red (2012) and Speak Now (2010), Taylor Swift announced the release of the new version of 1989his fifth album released in 2014. The announcement follows a series of re-recordings of part of the pop star’s back catalog amid a dispute with his former record label.
Updated version of the original album, 1989 (Taylor’s Version) will be released on October 27, 2023 and will feature many bonus features. We will find in particular five new songs, recorded at the time but remained unreleased. Released in 2014, 1989 had seen his interpreter move away from country to go towards the synth-pop of the 1980s. Sold more than 6 million copies worldwide, 1989 also won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year, as well as Best Pop Album.

Since 2019, Taylor Swift has been in conflict with Big Machine Records, her former label. New owner of the latter, Scooter Braun had sold the rights to the first six albums of Taylor Swift, thus dispossessing the musician of her own songs. After making the case public, the American decided to circumvent this decision by re-recording her own music herself.
The singer announced the re-release of 1989 during a concert in Los Angeles, on the occasion of his tour The Eras Tour. “To be perfectly honest, this is my favorite re-recording because the five unreleased tracks are insane. I can’t believe we left them out.” comments the star on his social networks. The Scrapbook 1989 marks Taylor Swift’s definitive transformation into a pop icon, with tracks like Blank Space And Shake It Off.
