The Volvo XC40 Recharge offers customers everything they can expect from a modern electric car. It is equipped with four-wheel drive. Its two engines generate a total power of 408 hp. The range of the car, homologated according to the WLTP rules, is approx. 418 km. The battery charges to 80% of its capacity in about 40 minutes, when we use the fast charger (CCS). A presentation of this model took place in the Volvo Firma Karlik showroom in Stary Browar, and customers can already arrange test drives at the showrooms of the Poznań dealer.
Press breakfast in Stary Browar
The Volvo showroom is located in the new part of Stary Browar on level 0. It was there that an intimate meeting for representatives of local media as well as partners and ambassadors of the Volvo brand and Karlik was held. Among the invited guests were actress Grażyna Wolszczak and Instagram bloggers Life Catchers and Paula Jagodzińska. The event began with a lecture by the author of the best-selling books on zero waste, Sylwia Majcher, who introduced the issue of not wasting. Then Stanisław Dojs from Volvo Car Poland talked about the directions of the brand’s development and the myths related to electromobility.
Time for electromobility
The XC40 Recharge and the Recharge line of cars are tangible proof of Volvo Cars’ ambitious plan to fulfill the Paris climate accords. The Swedish brand has announced that it wants to be a climate neutral company. This is expected to happen by 2040. Volvo Cars will introduce an electric version of every model in the next five years. The company aims to ensure that fully electric cars account for half of its sales by 2025. The other half will be hybrids.
The Recharge name will be reserved for all cars charged from the socket – the so-called full electrics and plug-in hybrids. The XC40 Recharge is the first Volvo and the first car ever to feature the new Android system developed by Google. However, this is not an ordinary Android Auto, but a system much deeper integrated with the control of the car’s functions. The increased use of eco-friendly materials is just one of the ways the XC40 Recharge is reducing its environmental footprint. For example, the upholstery in the cabin is partly made of recycled material. Inside there are ingenious storage compartments for water bottles, training bags, phones, laptops, snacks and more. There is also a special compartment for the charging cables at the front.
Volvo XC40 Recharge in the more powerful P8 version is equipped with two engines, one on each axle, which provide permanent all-wheel drive. This version is able to accelerate to 100 km / h in just 4.9 seconds. The energy necessary to power both engines is stored in batteries with a capacity of 78 kWh. Thanks to the large capacity of the battery, you do not have to worry about the range. According to WLTP standards, it is 418 km. How long does it take to charge? At the 150 kW fast charging station, you can charge the battery from 10 to 80% of its capacity in about 33 minutes (which gives about 80-100 km of range for 10 minutes of charging) – this time will allow you to rest or eat a meal during the trip .
