The trailer for Grounded 2: Making The Last of Us Part 2 has been released, a documentary that was previously abandoned but will now be released later this year.

As a sequel to the 2014 documentary “Grounded: The Making of The Last of Us”, production of the documentary began in 2016, documenting the behind-the-scenes development and production of Naughty Dog’s game “The Last of Us II.”

The doco will address everything from working conditions and emotional stress, to the massive pre-release leaks that nearly ruined the game and still impact the gaming industry to this day, let alone trying to finish the game in its first few months and published on the impact of the pandemic (title published in July 2020).

The documentary was initially scrapped due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but now, several years later, the footage has been assembled and the work is ready for release.

The game itself received rave reviews upon launch and won several prestigious gaming awards, although reaction to it was more divisive than its beloved predecessor.

An official release date for the doco is still to be announced, but it will be released on YouTube as a post-launch update for The Last of Us: Part 2 Remastered, which will be available in stores this Friday.

The trailer comes ahead of filming for the second season of HBO’s The Last of Us, which will adapt at least part of the game, and is set to begin filming in Vancouver next month.
