The plot of We Own This City
Based on the book of the same name by the journalist of Baltimore Sun Justin Fenton is set in the aftermath of protests by Baltimore citizens over Freddie Gray’s death while in police custody, We Own This City tells in six episodes the rise and fall of the Gun Trace Task Force of the local Police Department, created to monitor the spread of weapons, and the corruption of an American city in which the policies of mass arrests and the war on drugs have put the work of the police looks bad.
Bernthal plays Sergeant Wayne Jenkins, a central figure in the vast federal corruption case involving the Gun Trace Task Force, a plainclothes unit that has hunted down both ordinary citizens and drug dealers without distinction, resulting in decades of war during which the incarcerations in Baltimore were countless.
