The prime minister’s cousin Monika Morawiecka is no longer the president of PGE Baltica

As PGE informed, Morawiecka, who managed PGE Baltica since February 2019, resigned on November 24, and will remain in the company until December 31, 2021.

Monika Morawiecka worked at PGE since 2006. From 2010 she was responsible for the strategy of the Capital Group, incl. proposing long-term development plans both in the field of conventional energy and renewable energy, and for regulatory management.

PGE Baltica was established in January 2019 and is responsible for the program for the construction of three wind farms in the Baltic Sea: Baltica-1, which in June 2020 received technical conditions for connection to the transmission network for a capacity of up to 896 MW; Baltica-2, which in January 2019 received a proposal for technical conditions for connection to the NPS for 1489 MW from the transmission network operator, and Baltica-3 with a connection agreement for a maximum of 1045 MW.

PGE’s partner in the offshore project is Danish Orsted. In May 2021, Orsted’s companies acquired 50 percent each. shares in Baltica 2 and Baltica 3, paying over PLN 680 million.
