PLOT THE ROOKIE: FEDS
The Rookie: Feds is an American TV series spin-off of the detective story The Rookiecreated as the latter by Alexi Hawley with the collaboration of Terence Paul Winter. The crime drama follows Niecy Nash (Dahmer) as Simone Clark, a former Washington DC career counselor who, at the age of 48, finally realized her dream of joining the FBI, becoming its oldest freshman.
After leaving the Academy, Simone arrives in Los Angeles and aims to join the special unit that Agent Matthew Garza (Felix Solis, Ozark) recently formed with the intention of focusing more on detective work and less on FBI paperwork. Garza’s team includes Carter Hope (James Lesure, Good Girls), a traditionalist in constant pursuit of promotion who acts as Simone’s training agent while also facing a divorce; Laura Stenson (Britt Robertson, Under the Dome), a former member of the Behavioral Sciences Unit who desperately needs a second chance after a nervous breakdown due to personal reasons; and Brendon Acres (Kevin Zegers, Gossip Girl), an award-winning former actor who came out of the Academy with Simone.
On the home front, Simone has a strained relationship with her father Cutty (Frankie Faison, Banshee), mainly due to their conflicting views on law enforcement.

The Rookie: Feds is the spin-off of the detective story with Nathan Fillion The Rookie, also aired on ABC. The series and its protagonist, Simone Clark, were presented to the public in the eponymous episode of the fourth season of The Rookie, with a two-part story that continues into the next episode. Like the latter, The Rookie: Feds is a creation of Alexi Hawley, in this case joined by the frequent writer and executive producer of The Rookie Terence Paul Winter. Both are set in Los Angeles but, while The Rookie follows the oldest freshman of the local Police Department, Feds revolves around the FBI, focusing on the Academy’s oldest freshman.
The protagonist of The Rookie Nathan Fillion is one of the executive producers of The Rookie: Feds. The actor also appears in the first episode of the spin-off, reprising the role of agent John Nolan along with co-star Alyssa Diaz, who plays detective Angela Lopez.
Although Kat Foster was involved in the double backdoor pilot of The Rookie: Fedswith the role of FBI Special Agent Casey Fox, when the series was ordered, it was reported that the actress and her character had not been retained.
