the suv-coupé for South America

FIAT LOVE BRASIL – Fiat is deeply rooted in Brazil, so much so that right here, and precisely in Goiana, in the state of Pernambuco, is one of the largest plants in Stellantis, which can count on a production capacity of 280,000 per year. It is natural that Fiat pays particular attention to this market and to others in South America.

A COMPACT – In addition to the recent Fiat Pulse, Brazilian customers will soon be able to count on another new model, also engineered on the MLA architecture created specifically for South America. Is called Fiat Fastback, which, in addition to Brazil, will also be offered in Argentina. This is to all intents and purposes the first suv coupé of the Italian house to be inserted in the so-called segment C. The Fastback is inspired by the homonymous concept of 2018 (see it here), with respect to which it has been “softened” in style.

SUV-COUPÉ – Looking at the Fiat Fastback the relationship with the Pulse is evident, visible in some stylistic details such as LED headlights, grille, bonnet, fenders, doors and front bumpers. However, things definitely change on the rest of the car: the tail is in fact completely new, and the roof line is also quite inclined. Overall the Fastback it appears quite dynamic and has some typical off-road details, such as the raw plastic wheel arches and the well-profiled extractor area. There is no lack of qualifying elements such as the panoramic glass roof, the small spoiler integrated into the tailgate and the five-spoke alloy wheels with diamond finish.

WHICH ENGINES? – The Fiat did not release images of the interiors or technical information but, according to the Brazilian media, the Fastback it will be equipped with a 1-liter turbo engine with an output of 128 hp and a torque of 200 Nm. A 1.3-liter naturally aspirated unit with 106 hp and 134 Nm of torque could also be added to the range. The powertrains will be paired with a manual gearbox or an automatic CVT that transfers power to the front axle.
