The Victoria’s Secret World Tour, the new Victoria’s Secret fashion show in New York
In 1995, in New York, Victoria’s Secret organized its very first fashion show in New York, a spectacular show where the most beautiful top models from all over the world met, dressed in alluring ensembles emphasizing their shapelessness. If for decades, the American lingerie brand and its Angels (the models chosen for their dream measurements) have made the whole world fantasize, everything stops in 2019 when the company and its management are accused of misogyny, racism, harassment, but also to promote unrealistic standards and perpetuate unhealthy and negative body images.
Two years later, Victoria’s Secret returns with collections and an inclusive image worn by new muses like the footballer Megan Rapinoeactress Priyanka Chopra Jonasand the tennis player Naomi Osaka. And although in July 2022 the Hulu platform broadcasts the documentary against Victoria’s Secret: Angels and Demonsthe lingerie brand announces that it is making a comeback on the catwalks of New York Fashion Week with the show Victoria’s Secret The Tour.

This Wednesday, September 7, 2023, a prestigious crowd gathered at the Manhattan Center to attend this new kind of lingerie show, which will be broadcast on Prime Video on September 26. Besides an eclectic cast of models and musical talents like Doja CatNaomi Campbell, Gigi Hadid, Emily Ratajkowski, Paloma Elsesser, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Julia Fox, Candice Huffine, Amelia Gray, Lila Moss and Iris Law, Victoria’s Secret also invited twenty international creatives to rethink its heritage. Among them, Michaela StarkWavy The Creator and Bubu Ogisi. Undoubtedly the American brand has made an impressive effort to restore its image, but this parade broadcast on Prime Video is strangely reminiscent of the concept of the Savage x Fenty shows orchestrated by Rihanna.
