– The depreciation of the zloty from the beginning of September to now amounted to approx. 4%. This is largely related to the strengthening of the dollar against the euro, because the strengthening of the dollar weakens the zloty – NBP deputy president Marta Kightley said on Wednesday during the session of the Parliamentary Public Finance Committee.
She added that the impact of the dollar appreciation on the zloty weakening can be estimated on the basis of historical data.
– It is estimated that out of these 4 percent 3 percent this is the effect of the strengthening of the dollar. In addition, there are additional conditions, i.e. the situation at the border does not help us – added Marta Kightley.
She indicated to what extent the depreciation of the zloty influences inflation. – This is 0.07 percent. That is if the annual depreciation would amount to 4%, it would increase inflation by 0.3%. – added the vice-president of the NBP.
