The Wear OS shares have gone up. Record sales of Samsung smartwatches

As reported by the analytical company Counterpoint, the share of the Wear OS system in the smartwatch market increased in the third quarter of 2021 from 3 to 17 percent. Global supplies of smartphones increased by 16 percent.

The aforementioned third quarter is, above all, a great success of the Wear OS system, which Samsung used in the Galaxy Watch 4 series, instead of the previously used Tizen.

The market share of the software has increased significantly and is expected to increase further in the future. This state of affairs is related to the expectations of users counting on access to as many applications as possible on their smartwatches.

Catch up with Apple

While Samsung can boast of great results, the number one spot in the smartwatch market still belongs to Apple.

Counterpoint Research senior analyst Sujeong Lim noted, however, that Samsung outperformed expectations nonetheless. The vast majority of devices, more than 60 percent, have been delivered to the European and North American markets. To further increase its market share, the company is to introduce inexpensive models that should do better in the developing markets of Asian countries.
