Intervention by Italian Eurofighters on the Baltic Sea, four Russian fighters had violated the airspace of Sweden and Poland

Tension remains very high on the border between Russians and NATO countries. The Italian Air Force announced that it had intercepted four Russian fighters that had violated the airspace of Poland and Sweden (the latter recently applied to join NATO). As per procedure, the Italian Eurofighters took off to intercept the Russian fighters who, after the intervention, returned to the Kaliningrad exclave.

The intervention was announced by the Italian Air Force itself via the Twitter profile. The Italian vehicles are engaged in Poland for Air Policing activities.

After the immediate take-off, the Russian fighters, which had crossed the Baltic Sea after leaving Kaliningrad, resumed the route towards the Russian exclave.

Four Russian fighters intercepted

According to reports from the Air Force, Russian fighters had violated the airspace of Poland and Sweden.

Obviously, in the light of the latest developments in Ukraine, any intervention of this type becomes extremely delicate. Indeed, Russia has officially annexed the occupied Ukrainian territories.

A few days ago the tension had risen after the report of a Russian plane intercepted on the border with Poland.

Italian aircraft deployed in Malbork, Poland

Italian fighters are currently deployed at the Malbork military base in northeastern Poland, not far from Kaliningrad.

In recent days, the Italian Eurofighters had carried out similar missions, again on notification of the presence of Russian fighters near the border. The Kaliningrad exclave has recently returned to the center of international attention after rumors about a nuclear test that Putin would like to carry out in Ukraine.

Indeed, it is from Kaliningrad that the warheads to Western Europe could start, since it is the most westerly territory of the Russian Republic.
