The film They / Them stars Kevin Bacon as Owen Whistler, the director of a facility that offers conversion therapy for young LGBTQ + teenagers. Over the course of a week Whistler will clash with Jordan (Theo Germaine), a binary-gender teenager who has struck a deal with his parents to legally emancipate himself after attending the camp.
Jordan and other young men rebel against Whistler and his staff’s cruel methods as a series of murders begin to occur.
Also starring are Carrie Preston as Whistler’s wife, therapist Cora; Anna Chlumsky who is Dr. Molly; Those Tanns; Austin Crute; Monique Kim; Anna Lore; Cooper Koch and Darwin del Fabro.
They / Them is the directorial debut of John Logan, also involved as a screenwriter.
Logan had won a Tony Award for his work with the Red show and in the theater field he was responsible for the lyrics of the Moulin Rouge show. The screenwriter also garnered three Academy Award nominations for scripts for The Aviator, Hugo Cabret and Gladiator. Among the films he has worked on are Skyfall, 007 Specter, The Last Samurai, Sweeney Todd – The evil barber of Fleet Street, Rango, Alien: Covenant and Every cursed Sunday.
For the small screen he was the author of the acclaimed Penny Dreadful series, starring actress Eva Green, produced for Showtime.
