Tick, Tick… Boom marks the directorial debut of Pulitzer and Tony winner Lin-Manuel Miranda. The film is an adaptation of the autobiographical musical by Jonathan Larson, which conquered theaters with his innovative musical “Rent”. The Netflix platform showed the full production trailer.
Tick, Tick… Boom is the story of Jon, a young theater composer who in 1990 earns his living in New York as a waiter, and after work composes a piece that is to become the next hit American musical. Shortly before showing his work to the public to ensure his success, Jon feels more and more pressure: from his girlfriend Susan, who dreams of an artistic life outside of New York, and from his friend Michael, who has abandoned his dreams for financial stability. In the background there is the issue of the AIDS epidemic, which is ravaging the artistic environment. The clock is ticking, and Jon faces a dilemma that each of us will have to face one day: what to do with the time that has been given to us?
