Time magazine lists the 100 most influential people in the world every year. In 2020, they are divided into the following categories: icons, pioneers, titans, artists, leaders and innovators.
The highest among the icons were the British Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle. They are followed by, among others, Japanese tennis player Naomi Osaka, Russian oppositionist Alexei Navalny, American singer Britney Spears or a pair of Palestinians fighting the displacement of their compatriots from Jerusalem Muna el-Kurd and Mohammed el-Kurd.
In the pioneers category “Time” he distinguished the young American singer Billy Eilish, as well as the well-known deputy head of the European Commission Frans Timmermans, the Indonesian scientist dealing with the fight against dengue Adi Utarini or the Turkish economist Fatih Birol.
In turn, the titans include the American gymnast Simone Biles, screenwriter Shonda Rhimes and Brazilian billionaire Luiza Trajano. Among the artists, among others, actresses Kate Winslet and Scarlett Johanson or the French comedian Omar Sy.
In the leadership category, Nigerian economist and politician Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala was awarded, as well as US President Joe Biden with his deputy Kamala Harris, Chinese leader Xi Jinping and the newly elected Iranian president Ibrahim Raisi.
In turn, the innovators included the founder and president of the technological giant Nvidia Corporation Jensen Huang, as well as the American billionaire Elon Musk and the Hungarian biochemist Katalin Kariko. In this category, “Time” also included Lidia Morawska, a Polish scientist working in Australia, dealing with the problem of air quality and its impact on human health.
