Toto keyboardist David Paich announces solo album “Forgotten Toys”

Keyboardist, founding member and co-author of several of Toto’s greatest hits, David Paich has announced the release of his first solo album. “Forgotten Toys” is out August 19 via Mascot Label Group.

The lyric video for the first single, “Spirit of the Moonrise”, can be seen below. The track features guest appearances by Steve Lukather and Michael McDonald.

About the song, the musician highlights in promotional material:

“This is a recurring dream I have about a distraught girl, riding in the moonlight. It was something that perplexed me for many nights…”

Of Croatian descent, David Paich is the son of jazz musician, arranger and composer Marty Paich. In addition to Toto, he worked as a songwriter and arranger with the likes of Michael Jackson, Bryan Adams, Aretha Franklin, Elton John, Joe Cocker and Rod Stewart.

He also signed soundtracks for films such as “Rambo – First Blood”, “Shirley Valentine” and “Black Rain”. He also composed the official theme for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He has six Grammy Awards and an Emmy in his collection.

In the 2000s, Paich was often out of Toto’s routine as a road band. The reasons were health and family. His departure even made the band temporarily shut down activities.

He returned in 2010 and left again in 2018. Currently, he remains a member, but does not participate in the shows – except for sporadic appearances.

Pros and defects: he manages to finish Super Mario Bros in less than 5 minutes but he has never finished Final Fight with a credit ... he's still trying.
