Almost exactly 18 months after we learned of the start of a biopic on Enzo Ferrari, here is finally a trailer to put in your mouth. And the least we can say is that it’s promising. But with Michael Mann in charge (The Last of the Mohicans, Heat, Collateral), hard to expect less…
Rather than a montage of machine gun replicas interspersed with car racing shots to the sound of epic music, the production opted for a total absence of dialogue in this teaser. Just racing and life scenes, and engine noises. WE love.
We still hear a sentence, just one, at the very end. It is pronounced by Enzo Ferrari (Adam Driver): “If you are in one of my cars, you are there to win. ” We will have to think about warning the Scuderia of 2023 in F1… Fortunately, the endurance team has not forgotten the message.
According to the press release, the film opens in 1957. Enzo then goes through a personal crisis with his wife Laura (Penelope Cruz) after the death of their son Dino the year before, while the business he started ten years earlier is threatened with bankruptcy.
Also in the cast is Patrick Dempsey as F1 driver Piero Taruffi. If they were looking for an actor who could handle a steering wheel, they came to the right place. Now we’ll just have to get used to seeing Kylo Ren with slicked-back gray hair and big dark glasses.
If you want to see the trailer, it’s just below. The film will arrive in theaters around Christmas, and it will anyway be more exciting than the unbearable turnip about Ferruccio Lamborghini which preceded it by a few months.
