“Trust me, I’m a liar”: Armadilly’s pop tapestries on display in Perugia

PERUGIA – Saturday 21 May at 18 SCD Studio opens in the gallery spaces of Perugia the third exhibition project dedicated to the relationship between word and fiber art with the exhibition of Armadillystage name of Camilla CesariniTrust me, I’m a liar “edited by Gemma Gulisano.

On display is a selection of works by the Pesaro artist – some unpublished – who through a pink pop language tells a bored generation filtered by images posted on social media.

“In Armadilly’s contemporaneity – reads the presentation note of the exhibition – the relationship with one’s body in front of a mirror and in front of the gaze of others becomes complicated in relation to the photographic showcase of the social network: Instagram and his galleryin particular, they constitute that business card that society imposes.

They are social dynamics perfectly described with marked irony and extreme effectiveness in his tapestries, embroidered cartoons that give life to a singular union between language pop, enriched with a taste kitsch and contents social associated with culture trash.

They are works “daughters of their time”, textile mirrors – concludes the note – which reveal to the observer common behaviors sometimes unconscious conditioned by a culture of rampant hyper-connectedness or the relational dynamics of a generation that that same culture nourishes every day. The magnetic force of the Armadilly tapestries lies in the awareness of that individualism that leads to social disintegration, the desire for pleasure at all costs, the aesthetic and behavioral canons administered by influencer on social “.

The exhibition will remain open until June 5, 2022.


Camilla Cesariniin art Armadilly, born in 1995, holds a degree in Comics and Illustration at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna in 2018. Among the recent exhibitions, in 2021, the solo show at the Galleria Fidia in Rome and the double solo show with Giosetta Fioroni at the first edition of the “Roma Arte in Nuvola” fair at the Nuvola di Fuksas. She is among the artists selected for the 2022 edition of Contextile. Her style is mainly inspired by the world of social media and fashion, with a particular interest in Pop Art and the 60s.
