On Tuesday, teams from groups E, F, G and H played their matches in the Champions League. After five matches played, we have already known some of the decisions. Liverpool, Ajax, Bayern, Manchester United, Chelsea and Juventus were guaranteed promotion to the next round. Wednesday’s matches were to bring us more decisions and select new teams that would be able to celebrate the promotion.
Teams from groups A, B, C and D played their matches on Wednesday. Who can celebrate the promotion, who will still fight for it, and who has already lost the mathematical chances?
Teams that are already certain games in the 1/8 finals of the Champions League:
- Manchester City
- Ajax Amsterdam
- real Madrid
- Inter Milan
- Bayern monachium
- Manchester United
These eleven teams will play in the 1/8 finals of the Champions League. After the 6th round, five more teams will join them.
Teams dropped out of European cups:
- Shakhtar Donetsk
- Dynamo Kiev
These four teams lost the chance to even play in the Europa League and regardless of the results in the 6th round of the group stage, they will be 4th in their groups.
The other teams are still fighting for promotion or playing in the Europa League. The most interesting competition is in group G (where the leader and the 4th team are divided by three points) and in group B (three teams are fighting for promotion to the 1/8 final of the Champions League).
