Podolyak, “pro-Putin parties in Italy have taken money from the Kremlin”
“We have elements to affirm that someone in Europe, even among the Italian parties, has taken money from the Kremlin, but we cannot reveal it because it would mean interfering with the politics of your country”. This was stated by Mykhailo Podolyak adviser to the Office of the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in an interview with La Repubblica. “It is now known that the Federation has spent 300 million euros in recent years to finance some political movements in the European Union and, in doing so, has tried to influence both national and Union policies”, continued Podolyak, who he was also the head of the negotiating team that tried to find a diplomatic solution with the Russians months ago. In the famous American report in which the 300 million are mentioned, however, Italy does not appear. “We are aware of the behavior of certain parties, sometimes the Italian ones, which take openly pro-Putin positions, arguing for example that, for one reason or another, Russia had the right to attack Ukraine”, added Zelensky’s adviser, stating that “we cannot speak publicly about who has received Russian money for lobbying purposes. Certainly, at the intelligence level, our two countries cooperate. I have reason to believe that the fundamental data are all there: who took and how much ”.
