– The accumulation of Russian troops, intensive air reconnaissance, threats against Ukraine made by Russian officials at various levels, Russia’s conscious blocking of the Normandy format and the tripartite contact group (regarding the settlement of the conflict in Donbas) – all of these should be considered as components Russia’s aggressive policy against Ukraine, said the minister of foreign affairs at Thursday’s briefing.
As Kuleba added, Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs is working on strengthening international support for the country in terms of military cooperation and security. – The main goal is to stop Russia from further aggressive actions. As a result, Moscow must clearly understand the political, economic and human losses it will suffer in the event of a new stage of aggression, he emphasized.
A task for Ukrainian diplomats
The head of Ukrainian diplomacy said that his country is in favor of a comprehensive package to counter the Kremlin’s aggressive intentions, which includes the political and economic containment of Russia and military aid for Ukraine. He stressed that the main task of Ukrainian diplomats is to organize a high level of international support in order to prevent a “new wave of war”.
– We are not trying to guess what (sitting) in Putin’s head is a thankless task. We are working on making it realize that the new attack on Ukraine will be too costly, so it is better not to do it, the minister pointed out.
The tone of the signals of the international community
Dmytro Kuleba pointed out that the tone of the signals of the international community towards Russia “has increased significantly” recently. The EU, NATO, the USA, Canada, Great Britain, France, Germany, Sweden, the Baltic states, Poland and other countries have already expressed their support for Ukraine and warned Russia against escalation, he mentioned.
