40-year-old Daniele Santarelli is to take over the team previously led by Jacek Nawrocki. He is a long-time coach of the Imoco Volley team, winner of the last CEV Champions League and four-time Italian champion. The captain of the Italian team is Joanna Wołosz.
Santarelli took part in the competition for the manager and was in the final four selected by PZPS, along with Stephane Antiga, Alessandro Chiappini and Stefano Lavarini. In recent years, he has also worked with the women’s national team of Croatia.
The change will also be made in the male team of the White and Reds. The situation is different here, because the names of the candidates in the PZPS competition have not been disclosed. We only know that out of the six coaches who volunteered, there are only four left in the game. Nikola Grbić is definitely in this group, and he remains the favorite in the race for the job vacated by Vital Heynen. The Serb, the president of Perugia, Gino Sirci, does not want to agree to combine two jobs, but the former ZAKS coach is determined to take over the White-Reds.
“La Gazzetta dello Sport” is also convinced that the matter has already been resolved, and Grbić will lead the Polish team. It was supposed to be the dream candidate of the new president of PZPS, Sebastian Świderski.
