Podcast guest The Empire Spoiler Special Film Podcastdirector Christopher McQuarrie delivered this unusual anecdote about Tom Cruise. “The entire mission briefing scene was developed in a week and shot in a day. Except for the side scenes, which we shot in Tom Cruise’s garage in Florida because there was one element missing.”revealed the filmmaker.

“First of all, we rushed to shoot the scenes, and anything you shoot in a hurry never comes to anything. It was the longest day of filming, the last. I directed in setting up the scene that I had the key, Ilsa (Rebecca Ferguson), bounty hunters, and that we had difficulty understanding what Marie’s flashbacks meant (Mariela Garriga)”explains the director.
“I was in the editing room. I was inputting the Marie footage and I said to myself, ’30 years ago, you were given a choice’. I just screwed up. Stop asking the audience to understand and just tell him what he wants to know”McQuarrie said.
The latter then made a phone call to Tom Cruise to explain to him that the sequence was not readable and that it was necessary to add shots with identity photos.
“So we brought a desk, a floor, a bag, photos and a gun, all the basic accessories, and we went to Tom’s garage in Florida. We used a small team to redo it all.”confided the director.
