WE OWN THIS CITY PLOT

We Own This City is an American miniseries created for HBO by the creator of The Wire David Simon together with his longtime collaborator George Pelecanos. Based on the journalist’s book of the same name Baltimore Sun Justin Fenton is set in the aftermath of protests by Baltimore citizens over Freddie Gray’s death while in police custody, the crime drama chronicles the rise and fall of the local Police Department’s Gun Trace Task Force, created to monitor the spread of guns, and the corruption surrounding it in an American city where the policies of mass arrests and the war on drugs have put the work of the police in a bad light.
The former star of The Walking Dead Jon Bernthal plays Sergeant Wayne Jenkins, a central figure in the vast federal corruption case involving the Gun Trace Task Force, a plainclothes unit that chased both ordinary citizens and drug dealers without distinction, resulting in decades of warfare during who have been incarcerated in Baltimore countless. Josh Charles (The Good Wife) joins him in the role of Daniel Hersl, a swashbuckling cop known among Baltimore residents for his brutality, the subject of multiple complaints from citizens. Jamie Hector (Bosch) is Sean M. Suiter, a homicide detective involved in the task force case and called to testify before the grand jury. Wunmi Mosaku (Lovecraft Country), on the other hand, plays the role of Nicole Steele, an attorney assigned to the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice.
They also star in the miniseries McKindley Belcher III (Ozark), Darrell Britt-Gibson (Barry), Dagmara Domińczyk (Succession), Rob Brown (Blindspot), Don Harvey (The Deuce), David Corenswet (The Politician) And Larry Mitchell (CSI).

We Own This City is based on the non-fiction book We Own This City: A True Story of Crime, Cops and Corruptionwritten by the investigative reporter of the Baltimore Sun Justin Fenton. The miniseries brings award-winning David Simon back to HBO, with a new crime story set in Baltimore, fourteen years after the conclusion of The Wireconsidered by many to be the best drama series ever produced in the United States, which they followed Treme, Show Me a Hero, The Deuce And The plot against America.

The miniseries was actually shot in Baltimore, Maryland. In September 2021, filming stopped for about a week due to events related to the Covid-19 pandemic.
