She returned to the painful question of illness of her husband, Mila Kunis, who in an interview with Entertainment Tonight talked about the ordeal experienced by the two in recent years. The couple had already opened up to the general public on the issue last August, when, in an episode of the TV program Running Wild with Bear Grylls: The ChallengeAshton Kutcher had revealed her problem later in the evening.
Ashton Kutcher, the illness and the statements of Mila Kunis
On that occasion, Ashton Kutcher had decided to tell her personal experience with these words:
Two years ago I contracted a very rare form of vasculitis that knocked out my sight, my hearing, my whole balance. I didn’t know if I would ever go back to seeing, hearing, walking. It took me a year to recover my senses. I am lucky to be alive.
Now it was the actor’s wife, Mila Kunis, to return to the matter, releasing statements to Entertainment Tonight.
It happened just before Covid, roughly three years ago. I don’t think, in such a situation, you have time to sit down and talk. You begin to deal with health problems for who they are, but at the same time you have children, a family, a life. I think we were lucky to be there for each other, but sitting and talking about it incessantly is pointless. We need to act, to use all our forces.
But what is vasculitis, the disease diagnosed by the actor?
It is a’inflammation affecting the blood vessels and can occur with no known cause (primary vasculitis), for autoimmune reactions, as a result of an infectious process or in association with another pathological condition (secondary vasculitis). Since any blood vessel can be affected, different types of vasculitis can develop depending on the location of the inflammatory process, also varying in severity and duration. In any case, the participation of the immune system which, by mistakenly recognizing the cells of the blood vessels as foreign and dangerous, attacks them, as if they were a bacterium or a virus, causing a reduction in the amount of blood that can reach tissues and organs. In some cases, thrombi or granulomas form that obstruct the flow, while in others vasculitis weakens the blood vessel, leading to the onset of an aneurysm (a kind of swelling similar to a ball). Depending on the blood vessels (and therefore the organs and systems) involved, the symptoms also vary, but the most common to most are:
- skin rashes
- joint and muscle pains
- loss of appetite and weight
The disruption of blood flow caused by inflammation can cause damage to affected organsas in the case of the actor, for which it was fortunately a temporary condition.
