Weekend shows will result in crowds and heavy rain – 2023/10/07 – Illustrated

Heavy rain in Rio de Janeiro has caused disruption to The Weeknd’s show on Saturday night (7th).

Hours before performances on the After Hours Till Dawn tour began, some of the audience was removed from the lawn of Nilton Santos Stadium in Engenjo de Dentro, north of the city.

For safety reasons, event organizers decided to evacuate people from the vast square, despite the risk of lightning strikes. At around 7:30 p.m., spectators on the lawn were moved to evacuation centers by organizers.

At the time, there was uncertainty as to whether the show would take place. The image was published on X, the old Twitter. About 30 minutes later, the gates opened again and a rush began as people tried to get back to the best spots.

Live Nation, the group responsible for organizing the event, apologized for the inconvenience caused in a memo posted on social media.

“We apologize for any delays caused by weather conditions. The Weeknd’s show in Rio de Janeiro has not been cancelled, and will start soon. The public has already re-entered the stadium and the show will start soon. We are excited to announce that we are getting started,” the memo reads.
