West Ham have reportedly turned down City’s second offer for Paqueta

The Citizens are interested in the Brazilian midfielder but the Hammers are reluctant to let him go

The London club has already rejected an initial offer of 80 million euros. Pep Guardiola’s side have therefore raised their offer to an impressive €101 million, but it is still not enough to persuade West Ham, whose selling price has been set at more than €110 million.

Can West Ham keep Paqueta?

After joining West Ham from Lyon in the summer of 2022, Lucas Paqueta has only stayed in London for a year. The Hammers acquired the midfielder at the time for a fee of €43m, and according to Transfermarkt, his market value is now €45m.

Therefore, Citi is offering much more than its reported value. However, we have to bear in mind that David Moyes’ side have already lost a key starter when they sold Declan Rice to Arsenal this summer. The transfer would cost the Gunners over 120 million euros. If City raise their bid, West Ham could get more than €230m from just the two players.

However, this would result in significant losses in the midfield. But sometimes offers come along that you just can’t say no to.
