In a press conference, Kevin Feige spoke about the future of the actor in the cinematic universe of superheroes
Thor: Love and Thunder seems to be the end of the line for Chris Hemsworth in the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe). With no purpose in life, the hero of Asgard seeks inner peace in retirement. However, the time of tranquility is short-lived, after the arrival of Gorr, the Butcher of the Gods (Christian Bale). Even before the film’s premiere, scheduled for next Thursday (7), Kevin Feige talked about the actor’s future as the son of Odin (Anthony Hopkins).
In a press conference for Thor 4, the boss of Marvel spoke about the future of the MCU. And Hemsworth might be happy with the answer. While Love and Thunder should mark the end of the line for this version of the Asgardian, the multiverse opens the door to variants of the hero.
“I think of our actors not as individual heroes or villains, but as our repertoire cast. They can change and evolve within their characters. If we look to the comics as a guide, we have a lot of different incarnations of Thor that we haven’t seen in the movies yet.”
So Thor 4 could just be the end of a Hemsworth chapter within Marvel. The opening of the multiverse in Loki and the expansion in Doctor Strange 2 created endless possibilities for the interpreters of heroes in the cinematic universe. “As I’ve always said, when we do a sequel, our idea is to continue the character and the experience of an actor within the character,” added Feige.
Thor: Love and Thunder Synopsis
In the plot of Love and Thunder, Thor is in a new phase of his life. While trying to enjoy his retirement, the hero of Asgard is surprised by a galactic assassin known as Gorr, the Butcher of the Gods. The poor thing can’t even enjoy the holidays in peace.
In trouble, the God of Thunder enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi), the Guardians of the Galaxy and his ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman). And, to everyone’s surprise, the scientist is the new owner of Mjolnir, which gives her the same powers as Thor. So, the new group of heroes must intervene to prevent the extinction of all gods across the galaxy.
Directed by Taika Waititi, Love and Thunder also stars Bradley Cooper, Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Jaimie Alexander, Karen Gillan, Matt Damon, Melissa McCarthy, Pom Klementieff, Russell Crowe and Vin Diesel in the cast.
