Wirtualna Polska – Everything important

Paulo Sousa in an interview with TVP Sport admitted to having made a mistake in Robert Lewandowski. The selector of the Polish national team also drove a pin to Polish journalists.

After the defeat with Hungary (1: 2), the Polish national team lost the chance to be placed in the play-offs and the semi-final match for promotion to the 2022 World Cup will certainly be played away. In addition, rivals may be Italians or Portuguese. This significantly hindered the White-Reds’ journey to the World Cup.

After the meeting with Hungary, an avalanche of criticism poured out on the coach Paulo Sousa and Robert Lewandowski. All because the striker did not play against Hungary, and he made such a decision together with the coach. What’s more: the Portuguese at the post-match conference admitted that if he could, he would have made the same decision.

The statement published by Lewandowski, in which he was supposed to explain the reasons for the lack of the game in the match against Hungary, did not help either. After a few days, Sousa admitted his mistake. He did it in an interview with Jacek Kurowski from TVP Sport.

– Otherwise, I would spend his minutes with Andorra. I would have replaced Robert on the break when we were leading 2: 1. The team might have had more difficulty playing without him, but we would have won the game and secured a place in the play-offs. Alternatively, he could play for about 50-60 minutes. Depending on its energy level and the strength of muscles and joints. We could have made other decisions, said Sousa.
