It has been nine years since the casting announcement of Gal Gadot for the role of Wonder Woman and now the actress celebrates the anniversary with a look back and a preview of the “next chapter”. Gadot shared a photo of her from her first film on Instagram on Tuesday Wonder Womanwriting of her gratitude for being able to play the iconic character while stating that she can’t wait for fans to see the heroine’s next chapter.
“On this day a few years ago, the first announcement was made that I would be playing Wonder Woman,” Gadot wrote. “I was so thankful for the opportunity to play such an incredible and iconic character and more than anything I am thankful for YOU. The fans. The most amazing, warmest and most loving fans in the world. I’m still pinching myself to see if I’ll wake up. I can’t wait to share his next chapter with you.”
Wonder Woman 3 was officially confirmed at DC FanDome in 2021 during a conversation between director Patty Jenkins and Lynda Carter, star of the classic Wonder Woman television series. However, there have been few updates on the threequel since then, though Gadot shared an update on the film’s script in April.
“We’re talking about!” Gadot told Forbes. “We’re working on the script and making the third film, so all the wheels are turning and I’m super, super excited for fans to come see Wonder Woman 3 once it’s done.”
The timing and plans for it have not been revealed at this time Wonder Woman 3, although Gadot’s post seems to indicate that things continue to move forward. That’s good news for DC fans, especially with the changes that have occurred at Warner Bros. Last month, Suicide Squad director James Gunn and producer of Shazam! Peter Safran began running the fledgling DC Studios, focused solely on DC Comics characters. Gunn and Safran are expected to reveal their plans for the DC Universe franchise before late 2022 or early 2023, which should provide fans with a better update.
