THE MATCH – The Netherlands started very strong and immediately took the lead in the 6th minute with Gakpo: who made an encore, given that he had already unlocked the Oranje’s debut match against Senegal. The ‘Tri’ takes a while to overcome the blow and up to more than half an hour the Ecuadorian initiatives crash on Van Dijk. When Valencia lights up, but it’s pain, luckily Noppert takes care of deflecting with his fists. In the added time of the first half Estupinan would make it 1-1 on the developments of a corner kick, but the Algerian referee Ghorbal canceled due to Porozo’s active offside position.

The close goal at the end of the first half gave Ecuador the right boost, which caught the Dutch again in the 4th minute. The signing of the 1-1 is always the same, that of Valencia. The Fenerbahce striker started and finished the action, taking advantage of a short clearance by Noppert on Estupinan’s shot. Alfaro’s selection becomes the owner of the field but fails to realize his superiority and as the minutes go by the match is channeled towards a draw which basically neither of the two nations dislike. The greatest emotion of the finale, unfortunately, concerns a heavy injury. The one from Valencia, who had gritted his teeth and has to go out on a stretcher instead. The match therefore ends 1-1, so both Ecuador and the Netherlands will need only one point in the last match of their group to advance to the knockout stages.
