While Apple cannot give us an ordinary in-screen reader, Xiaomi already has a patent for a full-screen scanner. This is the most convenient biometrics I’ve ever seen.
- Xiaomi patents a phone with a full-screen reader.
- Another flagship should be equipped with such technology.
- Unlocking will be possible on the entire display.
If I had to give one reason why I still don’t want to buy an iPhone, it would be slow charging. And no, there is also an annoying unlocking method for people with severe visual impairments. It completely disqualifies him for me, despite sympathy for iOS. It would be enough to add an in-screen reader as an alternative and that’s it – many people with problems similar to mine would have a choice.
And here comes Xiaomi, which has some of the best in-display readers in the entire market. Only OnePlus is better, but for them it requires a screen backlight, so the laurel of priority easily flies to Xiaomi. And now they show Apple that their FaceID is laughable (literally – see what their iPhone 14 Pro looks like).
Xiaomi will have a phone with a full-screen reader
The in-screen scanner is the most convenient unlocking method these days. Usually the phone is unlocked on the way from the pocket to the line of sight. Payments? I wear the mask politely and I don’t have to use an Apple Watch, just a regular fingerprint. I can do it all day, but that’s not the point. The reader in the display requires muscle memory if we do not want to look at it. Fortunately, it will be soon.
The new Xiaomi patent assumes that the entire screen will be a scanner. It’s something I’ve been waiting for for years. I see disadvantages – accidental touches can make us often see a notification about too many attempts. It remains to be hoped that the manufacturer will be able to deal with it before the market debut.
Even with optimistic assumptions on phones with a full-screen reader, we will have to wait. In the meantime, it is worth taking a look at the novelties of the Chinese manufacturer. Several smartphones are headed to Europe. Redmi Note 11 Pro is the new king of the middle shelf and there is definitely something to save on.
