Raise your hand if you don’t know Yamaha XMAX. Yamaha’s most popular scooter range has been on the market since 2006 and has never missed a beat ever since. The success of the formula has always been linked to the sportiness of style and the contents of medium-high range scooters, combined with more than decent road performance without ever giving up the typical characteristics of traditional scooters such as large underseat compartment, spacious footboard and excellent aerodynamic protection. . In 2023 the 125 and 300 range is renewed in both the standard and Tech Max versions with the introduction of a new aesthetic and updated technical contents, which also include connectivity and navigator.
Yamaha XMax: What changes?
You won’t have to try too hard to understand that this is a new XMAX: the shield incorporates the distinctive features of the latest version but emphasizes the optical groups and the “X” air intakes with more taut and marked lines. The rear 3/4 view doesn’t change that much but there are new undertail plastics and a redesigned air filter. In addition, the boomerang side panels receive a new air intake.
The saddle is also new (thanks to its shape it can now accommodate two full-face helmets, below) and in Yamaha they speak of improved finishes, for example in the aluminum alloy rear-view mirror support and in the new footboard, also in aluminum. The electronic package with 4.2-inch TFT instrumentation with Bluetooth connectivity and Garmin navigationwhich can be interfaced with the MyRide and Garmin StreetCross smartphone apps, which displays the main navigation information directly on the scooter screen. The standard and Tech Max versions differ in finishes and colors, sportier for the former and more elegant for the latter.
Between the two displacements, in addition to the obvious different Euro5 engine and specific colors, the instrumentation also changes. In the 125 the TFT screen has a diagonal of 4.3 “ and it is a simplified version of the Tech Max 300 multifunction, which cannot be connected to the navigator but which maintains Bluetooth connectivity to display phone updates on the screen. We will see both displacements available starting from March 2023.
