Yankees emerging as favorite to sign Marcus Stroman (Report)

MLB Network analyst Jon Paul Morosi reports that the Yankees have agreed to sign Marcus Stroll after the club had “productive conversations” with the right-hander in recent days. The “prime candidate” for Roman’s view.

USA Today’s Bob Nightengale reported earlier this week that the two sides have “a mutual interest” in each other since the general managers’ meeting in November.

The Yankees’ attempts to improve their rotation over the winter were unsuccessful. They lost the bid for Yoshinobu Yamamoto. They are also reportedly interested in Shota Imanaga, who is Close to agreement with Cubs. MLB Network analyst Jon Heyman wrote in the New York Post last week that the Yankees’ “negotiations with top free agents like Blake Snell and Jordan Montgomery remain far off.”

But as the Yankees continue to work on it, maybe they can work out a deal with Stroman. The pitcher is coming off his second All-Star appearance in 2023 and finished the year with a 3.95 ERA in 136.2 innings, although he did not start again after July due to rib and hip injuries.

Stroman has experience playing in New York after wearing a Mets uniform from 2019 to 2021. During that time, he posted an outstanding 126 ERA+ in 238.2 innings (44 starts).

Teams such as the Red Sox, Orioles, Giants, Angels and Phillies have also been linked to the 32-year-old right-hander.
