Yellowstone, comes the spin-off of the spin-off: Announced 1883: The Bass Reeves Story

David Oyelowo will play the famous American lawman in the new TV series.

The universe of Yellowstone it still expands. Streaming service Paramount + has announced a fourth spin-off of the hugely successful series created by Taylor Sheridan. It is about 1883: The Bass Reeves Story and was born as an appendix to the recent first spin-off 1883. As you can guess from the title, the story focuses on a character who really existed but never appeared before in the franchise, played by the actor of Selma: The road to freedom And Nightingale David Oyelowo.

About Bass Reeves

Bass Reeves was a famous American lawyer born in 1838. He was the first Black Marshal agent west of the Mississippi River, arresting over 3,000 criminals over the course of his career without sustaining a single injury. Reeves is considered one of the great American frontier heroes and his exploits are said to have inspired the creation of the famous character in Italy known as The Lonely Knight.

A TV series focusing on Bass Reeves has been on Oyelowo’s thoughts for many years. Galeotto was the development agreement of Yoruba Saxon, his production company, with the ViacomCBS group, with which Taylor Sheridan also has an agreement. As announced last September, it was the latter who said yes to Oyelowo’s idea after several refusals to other television companies not particularly interested in the western genre, but since then the project has evolved to become part of the franchise. Yellowstone.

1883 and other spin-offs

Concluded last February after 10 episodes much appreciated by the public of Paramount +, 1883 told the story of the journey west across the Great Plains undertaken by the distant ancestors of the Dutton family to a better future in America’s promised land of Montana, where the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch will one day rise. It will arrive in December 1932, series with Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren focused on a later generation of the Duttons. Through these characters, the spin-off will explore the beginning of the 20th century, when a pandemic, an unprecedented drought, the end of Prohibition and the Great Depression plague the western mountains and the Duttons who call this place home.

6666 (working title), on the other hand, is set in the present, on a ranch other than that of the Dutton family, as large as no other in America, so much so that it encompasses an entire county. Still operational as two centuries before, 6666 is a place where the rule of law and the laws of nature merge and everything is always overcome in danger by the next. 6666 is also a place where people work hard to raise the best horses and cattle in the world, and where unparalleled cowboys are born and trained.
