Emmanuel Macron salutes a “figure of our popular culture”
As soon as the announcement of his disappearance, the tributes have continued to multiply on social networks. Anonymous as personalities wanted to salute the memory of the famous lady in the hat who will have brought so much to miss France. This is the case of Emmanuel Macron, who hailed a “figure of our popular culture, whose commitment and personality earned him the affection of millions of French people”.
“Everyone knew her look and her eloquence, and millions of French people each year watched on television for the Miss France election ceremony that she organized and to which she had devoted her life”, said the head of state in a press release. Among the various tributes from political leaders, one in particular aroused strong reactions.
On Twitter – recently renamed X by Elon Musk -, Sandrine Rousseau caused controversy by attacking the institution that Geneviève de Fontenay has defended against all odds over the decades. “Miss France, and these standardized, formatted, normalized and finally rated bodies”dropped the one who accused the meat of being responsible for the fires and the high temperatures before adding: “Definitely Drag Race France”.
Internet users furious with Sandrine Rousseau
A message deemed indecent by many Internet users who denounced a slippage by the MEP Ecology-The Greens. “Going to say that on the day of the death of Geneviève de Fontenay, it’s more than miserable. No respect. Definitely crazy…”, got annoyed one of them. Another launched: “We will therefore appreciate the great human and respectful quality of the funeral oration of the deputy Rousseau for the late Geneviève de Fontenay. The great class…”while another said: “The day of the death of Geneviève de Fontenay. Beyond the indignity and the total lack of this tweet, it is no longer Sandrine Rousseau, but Tatie Danielle that it is”.
