According to what has been communicated, it is possible to cancel a message two days after sending. Two days and 12 hours, to be precise. An option that applies to both private and group chats. Just hold down on the message in question and select the “Delete” button. Simply put, it is an extension of the time you have to delete a message. Before the new update that brings this change with it, the time limit was one hour, eight minutes and 16 seconds.

A choice totally opposite to that undertaken by iMessage from Apple. In early beta versions of iOS 16, users had 15 minutes to cancel sending a message. Now this limit has been reduced to just two minutes. As for Telegrammain competitor of WhatsApp and iMessage, already allows you to edit and delete messages without any time limit.

According to several users, the options for editing and canceling messages are highly controversial, because they can be used for illegal and malicious purposes. A fear that prompted Apple to add an edit history for edited texts in iMessage. Telegram also notifies you of a modified but not deleted message. WhatsApp, on the other hand, only reports the deletion, since it does not allow modification. As noted by the MacMagazine portal, Meta’s messaging app is also working on a feature that allows group administrators to delete any user’s messages. However, this is an option made available only to beta users.
