It is an achievement that makes them proud. It passed the selection process in which 28,000 applicants participated from different parts of the world. “I tried very hard. I believe that just having talent is not enough to achieve thingsI took the best of my abilities and my habits to achieve what seemed impossible years ago”, said Emilio when he told us about the challenges he faced during his preparation.
He had a clear objective: to train abroad. Perseverance, ambition and hope to make a difference in their lives were the driving forces behind making their achievements. And boy did he have to row the boat against the current and hand in hand.
At one point in the conversation, he admits to us that he faced bullying as a child and was not admired by many.
“I was not given as much respect as I should have been. However, it gave me more strength to believe in myself even when others were against it.”
He emphasized that his parents are the cornerstone of his personal and academic development.
“My parents offered me space to discuss social dilemmas and educational issues which inspired me to develop critical thinking, they believed in me. My family comes from a humble background and learning about their story of resilience has inspired me. To show me that it can be done,” he insisted.
He completed high school at Colegio de Alto Rendimiento (Corner) from amazon. The academic load meant a challenge for Emilio as he had to do many things in a short amount of time, especially in the COR International Baccalaureate program. However, it also represents an opportunity to reinforce essential values such as discipline, perseverance, and dedication.
“They told me many times in the beginning of this journey of my life, for example, that I would not be able to achieve what I wanted, But I always believed that I was going to achieve it,” he said. Today, at the age of 18, he has taught a lesson to those who did not believe in his life project.
