The state budget will save at least PLN 19.5 billion due to the lower than originally planned subsidy to the Social Insurance Fund – reports Monday’s Dziennik Gazeta Prawna. According to the president of the Social Insurance Institution, Gertruda Uścińska, the reason for the lower subsidy is the effectiveness of the anti-crisis shield.
“DGP” writes that the subsidy to the Social Insurance Fund was originally supposed to amount to PLN 59.5 billion. However – as mentioned – the financial results of the fund are good enough that the management board of ZUS prepares a decision to withdraw almost one third of the subsidy.
According to journalists from “DGP”, this amount will not be lower than PLN 19.5 billion. “And unofficially, it is said that this amount may increase even more” – underlined.

Lower subsidy to ZUS. The president comments
In an interview with the daily, the president of the Social Insurance Institution, Prof. Gertruda Uścińska pointed out that the reason for the lower subsidy is the effectiveness of aid measures under the anti-crisis shield.
– A dozen or so months ago we were in a completely different place. We did not know what impact the COVID-19 epidemic would have on the economy. Now we can see that the aid measures have brought the expected effect in the form of protection of companies and employees who are now paying contributions – said Uścińska.
The President of the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) noted that “from the beginning of the anti-crisis shield, the pension body exempted from contributions for about PLN 15.5 billion and paid out stoppages for the amount of PLN 6.5 billion”. – ZUS clients also benefited from postponing the payment of contributions and installment arrangements for a total amount of almost PLN 15 billion – she added.
According to experts quoted by the daily, the lower subsidy to the Social Insurance Fund is also a matter of higher salaries in Poland and the growing number of foreigners registered for social insurance.
