GeForce NOW Cloud Gaming Service is available on a variety of devices and operating systems. On some platforms, however, you can count on certain amenities, including better image quality. What’s the best way to stream games?

People’s tastes and needs vary. Some people want their favorite production to be always with them and prefer to play on a smartphone, while others prefer to sit comfortably on the couch in front of a large screen with a pad in hand. GeForce NOW enables both. The possibilities don’t stop there. In this article, I will try to help you answer the question of what is the best way to use NVIDIA’s gaming platform for various reasons.

NEW GFN SUBSCRIPTION AVAILABLE PRE-ORDER

NVIDIA has expanded the list of available subscription plans with the RTX 3080 variant. Anyone who decides to order the new package will receive access to a computer with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 graphics cards. The machine will allow you to stream games with a resolution of 1440p and 120 frames per second on desktops and in 4K with HDR on SHIELD TV. The servers will be available in December. You can read about the details here.

NVIDIA SHIELD TV for the best picture quality

For many, the most obvious choice will be NVIDIA SHIELD TV. Appetizer Works properly with virtually all TV models with HDMI connection. The experience is comparable to playing on a stationary console. Nothing prevents you from playing with a gamepad. Among these are supported, inter alia, dedicated NVIDIA SHIELD controller, pads from new and previous generation consoles and some Logitech models – F310, F510 and F710. They can be connected both wired and wireless. You can also use the keyboard and mouse. In addition to being convenient, this attachment provides the best viewing experience in terms of image quality.

In addition to the standard version (pictured), NVIDIA has prepared SHIELD TV PRO with more disk space and additional USB ports.

At the time of creating this material, the price of the standard version of SHIELD TV is 110 PLN lower. Instead of 719 the device costs 609 PLN. Promotion is valid until November 29th.

A Windows desktop computer, or an old laptop

While the previous SHIELD TV platform supports mouse and keyboard support, using them on the couch can be problematic. It seems that in this case it would be a better idea to sit behind the desk with the monitor standing on it. So briefly, plays like a typical PC game. The GeForce NOW application runs on a Windows 7 or later 64-bit desktop.

On the computer you can count on playing in 720p or 1080p with a liquidity of 60 fps. After purchasing the RTX 3080 subscription, 1440p at 120 fps will be available.

The hardware requirements for the cloud gaming platform to function properly are so low that it is not worth bothering with them. An example? Dual-core processor with a minimum clock speed of 2 GHz.

The same goes for laptops. Even on an older office device without a dedicated graphics card, we are able to turn on GeForce Now. To play in the cloud you need only a dual-core processor (maybe 32-bit) clocked at 2 GHz, 4 GB of RAM, integrated GPU supporting DirectX 11 and of course Internet connection.

AND CAN A BROWSER ENOUGH?

The GeForce NOW service also works from the level of Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge web browsers. This means that we will also run GeForce NOW on chromebooks, i.e. cheap laptops intended exclusively for using the Internet, as well as on Xbox consoles.

The most demanding titles on a Chromebook? It is absolutely possible for GFN.

Android smartphone / tablet play the biggest hits in (almost) anywhere

GFN runs on handheld Android devices. So your favorite productions can always be at your fingertips. All you need is a smartphone or tablet with version 5.0 or above with at least 1 GB of memory and OpenGL support in ES 3.1 or newer. Even very old appliances meet these requirements. GeForce NOW lets you enjoy your entertainment wherever there is internet access and fast enough. It must be admitted that launching the most demanding titles on your phone is amazing. Additionally, for some it may be the only chance to play the greatest hits on the OLED screen. Gaming on small hardware can also be quite comfortable. All you need to do is use the pad and the holder, which allows you to attach your smartphone to it and attach it to the controller. This is probably best illustrative (look at it).

If you already have a compatible pad, just purchase a suitable holder.

Otherwise, you can think about the controller prepared typically for playing on the phone. In the photo, Razer Junglecat recommended for GeForce NOW.

Are you a fan of Apple products? no problem!

So far, we haven’t mentioned the possibility of streaming games from Apple devices. This does not mean, however, that NVIDIA has forgotten about them. On the contrary, cloud gaming can be run on a wide variety of apple hardware. The service is available on Mac, iPhone and iPad computers. In the case of the latter, the game can be played through the Safari browser. Of course, all devices can be controlled via a controller.
