Across the Spider-Verse will have six different animation styles

Miles Morales just got out of A new universe but Gwen Stacy is about to make him discover six new universes, each very different and distinct from the other.

A nice long journey.

A nice long journey.

After dismissal from the set of Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018) the revenge of the duo of directors / writers / producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller had arrived with the animated film Spider-Man: Into a New Universe (2018) where the protagonist was Miles Morales (Shameik Moore, seen in Samaritan with Sylvester Stallone on Amazon Prime Video, 2022), who lives in Earth 1610 where Peter Parker is deceased: 384 million collections worldwide against a budget of ninety million, the Oscar for best animated film and the confirmation not for a sequel but two.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

For the first chapter, the duo Lord/Miller (writers and producers) had wanted to create a world in computer graphics where hand-drawn characters moved, inspired by the drawings created by the co-creator of Miles Morales, the very Italian and very talented Sara Pichelli. One hundred and forty animation artists were required to accomplish this, the largest effort ever made by Sony Pictures. The following year it was announced Spider-Man: Across the Universe and last year the first teaser arrived, which you can discover at the bottom of the page, but Phil Lord and Christopher Miller had new heights to reach, indeed, universes.

Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse

So if two sequels titled only were initially announced Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Part 1 and Part 2, have recently received two different titles, the second of which, scheduled for 2024, is Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse. As mentioned in the first teaser, Across the Spider-Verse will center on the adventures of Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy/Spider-Woman (Hailee Steinfeld, Bumblebee, 2018), returning from the first chapter. In an interview with Empire the two screenwriters/producers Lord and Miller (there are three directors given the amount of work, Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, Justin K. Thompson) have revealed their ambitious plan: through the experience gained with The Mitchells versus the machines (2021) Miles and Gwen will cross six universes designed completely different and unique from each other

Aiming to amaze you but also making sure that style [di ogni universo] reflect the story and its emotions and not just an exercise in style.

Even if, jokingly, the two add that the film will be a bit like that too.

The two worlds

The two universes that you glimpse in the teaser below are respectively Earth -50101 and the city Mumbattan, based on an Indian comic, followed by New York of Spider-Man 2099, inspired by the works of Syd Mead and how he imagined the future and where the character of Miguel O’Hara will return (voiced by Oscar Isaac, Dunes, 2021). Gwen Stacy’s Earth-65 also appears, recognizable by the watercolor style inspired by the covers of her solo magazine.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Versedespite what is indicated in the teaser, will arrive in theaters on June 2, 2023, while Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is expected to arrive on April 28, 2024, we leave you with the first teaser in Italian and in the original language, released last year.
